A passenger car has long ceased to be associated with luxury. More and more often, it becomes an essential means of transport – both for private use and for professional purposes. Using a car increases the comfort of travel for people living in suburban areas. It enables convenient commuting to work, taking children to school or kindergarten, going on holidays, and doing shopping. For many people, it is also a work tool that allows quick access to clients or delivery of materials.

A driving licence for a passenger car is currently a goal pursued by people of all ages, but it is especially desired by young people who are reaching adulthood. Category B not only allows them to drive independently but also increases their chances of good employment. A Category B driving licence authorizes the holder to drive a passenger car. What Authorizations Does a Category B Driving Licence Provide?

Category B is the most popular and most frequently chosen category, both by people using a car for private and professional purposes. According to road traffic law, a Category B driving licence authorizes the holder to drive:

• – a motor vehicle with a maximum permissible weight (GVW) not exceeding 3.5 tonnes – except for buses and motorcycles,
• – a motor vehicle with a GVW up to 3.5 tonnes with a light trailer up to 750 kg GVW,
• – a motor vehicle with a GVW up to 3.5 tonnes with another trailer, provided that the total weight of the vehicle combination does not exceed 4250 kg (the driver is required to pass an additional practical exam and have this fact confirmed with an entry in the driving licence),
• – an agricultural tractor,
• – a slow-moving vehicle,
• – a slow-moving vehicle with a light trailer up to 750 kg GVW (within the country),
• – vehicles specified for Category AM driving licence.

After three years from the date of issuance, Category B also authorizes the holder to drive a motorcycle with an engine capacity up to 125 cm³, power up to 11 kW and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.1 kW/kg (only within the territory of Poland).

Who Can Enroll in a Category B Course?

The conditions for obtaining a Category B driving licence are specified in road traffic law. They primarily concern the candidate’s age and the absence of medical contraindications. Both of these factors aim to eliminate drivers whose emotional maturity or health condition may pose a threat to other road users. To enroll in a Category B course, you must:

• – be at least 18 years old or reach that age before taking the state exam,
• – obtain a positive medical certificate,
• – create a Driver Candidate Profile (PKK) at the road traffic department in Gdańsk,
• – pay the course fee in the agreed form (installments) and in the amount specified in the price list.

Course Duration and Forms

Our driver training center ensures the best possible conditions for learners and proper preparation for the state exam. Confirmation of our efforts is the high pass rate of our students. We are aware that work, studies, and other obligations often make it difficult to attend daily lectures or practical classes. Therefore, we offer two attractive training formats:

• – afternoon courses – theoretical classes take place for three weeks, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., 17:00 – 20:30,
• – morning courses – theoretical classes take place over 4 days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 9:00 – 13:30,
• – weekend courses – theoretical classes take place over 3 weekend days: Saturday–Sunday–Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 9.00 – 14.30.

We also offer a holiday express course consisting of four morning meetings on weekdays. In addition to the scheduled lectures, we also organize first aid training on separate dates.

Course Scope

The Category B course program is defined by relevant driver training regulations. It includes 30 hours of theoretical instruction and 30 hours of mandatory driving practice (including part on the maneuvering yard). Candidates who want to improve their skills may purchase additional driving lessons. The Category B course material includes:

• – road traffic regulations – basic concepts, general and specific vehicle movement rules, road signs and signals, vehicle usage conditions, responsibility and obligations of the driver and vehicle owner,
• – driving technique – preparation for driving, starting and stopping, basic maneuvers, driving in difficult conditions (after dark, in fog, etc.), vehicle characteristics,
• – basic vehicle construction and maintenance principles – vehicle structure, systems, tires, electrical components, maintenance activities,
• – driving lessons – practical training of basic maneuvers and improving driving techniques in various situations,
• – behavior at the scene of an accident and first aid.
