In order to enjoy having a driving licence, certain formalities must be completed, which are easy to forget in the excitement of the exam. Often, after receiving a positive result, many future drivers feel such great joy and relief that they forget to ask the examiner about the next steps. It is therefore worth going through the entire procedure step by step to know what it should look like.
Driver Candidate Profile (PKK)
The process of obtaining a driving licence begins with a visit to the local office. You must submit an application for a Driver Candidate Profile (PKK) number. This number is necessary to enroll in a driving course and then take the exam. The application should include, among other things, a medical certificate confirming there are no contraindications to driving vehicles, as well as current color photographs measuring 35 × 45 mm. With the PKK number, you can go to a driving school and begin your training.
Required Formalities and Fees
To apply for the issuance of a driving licence, you must pass both parts of the exam with a positive result: the theoretical and the practical part. After passing the practical exam, the future driver receives a practical exam report sheet, which includes the maneuvers performed. This is a formal confirmation which, in most cases, remains only a valuable keepsake. There is no need to submit this document anywhere. The examiner is responsible for entering the necessary data into the ICT system. The report sheet may only be useful in disputed situations if an error occurs in the system.
The next step is to visit the Department of Motor Vehicles appropriate for your place of residence. You must provide proof of payment of 100 PLN for issuing the document. In many offices, the payment can be made on site, but it is worth verifying this in advance. If you want to pay earlier, you can do so by bank transfer, via the info-car portal, or traditionally at a post office or bank.
Waiting for the Driving Licence
After submitting the payment confirmation and ordering the production of the licence card, all that remains is to wait. The entire process should take up to approximately 9 working days. However, it may be extended, for example, if an error is found in the declared data. After receiving information that the driving licence is ready for collection, you must go to the same office where the application was submitted and bring your ID card or passport.
Finally, it is worth remembering that only a person with appropriate authorization may sit behind the wheel. Therefore, to avoid a high fine, it is better to drive independently only when the driving licence is physically in your hands.
